“National Conference of Indian Society for Psychiatric Nurses”
Narayana Nursing Institutions hosted the 8 National conference of Indian Society for Psychiatric Nurses from 6th-8th March 2010 under the leadership of Prof. Mrs. Indira. S, Principal, Narayana College of Nursing & by department of Mental Health Nursing.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Sri. T. Dileep Kumar, President, Indian Nursing Council, Nursing advisor MOH&FW, Govt. of India, Patron ISPN highlighted on the financial resources for up gradation of Nursing Profession & Maintenance of staff patient ratio & he also mentioned that Nursing Profession is documented in National Health policy for first time.
Dr. P. Narayana Garu, Chairman for Narayana Educational society emphasized on the prevention of mental illness & early diagnosis in community
Prof. S. Caroline, DDME (Nursing), Directorate of Medical education focused on the importance of Psychiatric Nurses in Community setting for early diagnosis of Mental illness.
Dr. Redddemma, President ISPN, behavioral Science NIMHANS addressed on the vital need for community mental health nursing in present scenario.
Dr. Ramachandra, Vice president ISPN Department of Nursing NIMHANS explained the various activities of ISPN.
Prof Mrs. Indira. S, Nursing Dean ,Narayana College of Nursing emphasized on the need for Independent Mental Nurse Practitioner & the role of Psychiatric Nurse in Community.
Prof Ms. Rajeswari, HOD & Prof. Mr. S. Vijaya Kumar Department of Mental health Nursing addressed the gathering & wished to enlighten the delegate to gain an experience & share the evidence based practice nursing in the selected topic.
13th CNE programmes were conducted in various sub themes focusing on community Mental Health Nursing.80 Scientific papers were presented in the conference 93&participants from 13 states of country were registered in the conference. On 8th March Valedictory session was held Sri. T. Dileep Kumar, President, Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, Nursing advisor MOH&FW, Govt. of India, Patron ISPN delivering speech in the ISPN conference. |

Dr. Ramakrishna. B, Principal, Narayana Medical College highlighted on the vital role of Nurses in hospital & community. |

To mark the Occasion various competition were organized to bring out the hidden talent of the students displayed their talents through cultural programme which included skit, dance, singing, mono acting & Fashion show. |
