STUDENT COUNCIL
The Student Council plays a vital role in fostering leadership, responsibility, and active participation among students. It serves as a bridge between the student body and the college administration, providing a platform for students to express their ideas, concerns, and suggestions. Through various cultural, academic, and social activities, the council promotes unity, teamwork, and a sense of community within the institution. Participation in the Student Council also helps students develop important life skills such as communication, organization, and decision-making. The election process encourages democratic values and transparency, allowing students to engage meaningfully in the governance and development of their college environment.
General Eligibility:
- Academic Standing
- Must be a final-year student of a full-time program ( B.Sc Nursing 4th year, M.Sc Nursing 2nd year, or P.B.B.Sc final year).
- Should have secured a minimum of 75% attendance in all classes.
- Must have cleared all previous examinations without backlogs.
- Discipline and Conduct
- Must have an exemplary conduct record with no history of disciplinary action or involvement in ragging.
- Should exhibit qualities of honesty, integrity, and respect for institutional values.
- Leadership and Participation
- Should have actively participated in at least one major college activity or event (cultural, sports, NSS, awareness campaigns, etc.).
- Must demonstrate proven leadership skills, teamwork, and the ability to coordinate with peers and faculty.
- Communication Skills
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills in English and the local language.
- Should be confident in addressing gatherings and representing the student body.
- Faculty Recommendation
- Must be nominated by at least one faculty member or student council coordinator.
- Final approval is subject to recommendation by the Principal
Activities of the Student Council Cell
- Conducting Regular Meetings
- Organizes monthly or quarterly meetings with class representatives and faculty coordinators.
- Reviews student issues, plans activities, and evaluates progress.
- Organizing Academic Events
- Arranges seminars, guest lectures, workshops, and webinars on relevant academic topics.
- Coordinates quiz competitions, debates, and essay writing events.
- Cultural and Festive Celebrations
- Plans and executes events like Freshers Day, Cultural Day, Traditional Day, and Annual Day.
- Encourages student participation in dance, music, drama, and fine arts competitions.
- Sports and Fitness Activities
- Organizes intra-college and inter-college sports competitions such as volleyball, throwball, javelin throw, etc.
- Promotes fitness activities like yoga sessions and awareness walks.
- Social Outreach and Community Service
- Collaborates with the NSS unit for blood donation camps, health awareness rallies, and cleanliness drives.
- Participates in community outreach programs and national celebration days (e.g., NSS Day, Independence Day).
- Leadership and Personality Development Programs
- Conducts workshops on communication skills, time management, and leadership.
- Engages students in group discussions, mock interviews, and career guidance sessions.
- Student Grievance Collection and Follow-Up
- Collects student concerns through meetings or suggestion boxes.
- Coordinates with college authorities to address and resolve issues.
- Maintaining Discipline and Campus Harmony
- Assists in monitoring discipline during college hours and events.
- Promotes a respectful and inclusive campus culture.
- Coordination with Committees
- Works in association with various college committees like the Anti-Ragging Committee, Cultural Committee, and Sports Committee.
- Ensures smooth execution of college policies and student programs.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Prepares minutes of meetings, event reports, and activity documentation for internal records and NAAC purposes.
